Pictures from the hills
SuBe and I took a drive to the "hills".  Drove down to Jackson Falls and took some pictures.  If you notice in picture #4, there is a greenish yellow knotted rope on the rock. That is one of two ways to get to the canyon floor.  The other is at least a 3 mile walk around to get out of the canyon.  Now I am not nearly as slim and trim as I once was, at least in my own mind.  I spent several minutes getting up the nerve to lower myself down the rope. Once down, I knew that I was going to have to climb back up the rope.  Tough job for an old man.  The view was worth it.  Afterward we drove about 5 miles down the gravel road to Trigg Observatory Tower.  It was a good day for picture takin'.  Very quiet in the woods. The sound of the water passing over the rocks is still clear in my mind.

After SuBe and I visited Burden Falls Wilderness Area, we went over to the Teal Pond Campground.  (no longer open to camping)  The pond had a golden look that warmed the trees and the edges of the pond.

When the kids were little, we enjoyed going camping by this pond. There was a quiet about the area that I don't seem to remember with kids, family and relatives running around.  We used to sit by the campfire, under the tall pine trees and tell spooky stories before tucking the kids into the tent at night.  I still don't know why they didn't sleep good at night.

SuBe and I went to the "hills" today for a picnic.  After discovering that I had left the bread behind, we made do with crackers and had a nice outing. Tooks some pictures and drove the gravels.

SuBe and I were taking a little drive around town in the rain tonight.  What the heck, its cheap entertainment.  She was taking pictures of the Halloween decorations. and I was listening to XM The Loft.  We ended up east of town and could see the sun setting, and decided to head out to the cat tails to take some pictures.

These are a few of the nearly 50 that we took.  Thought we would share what sundown in Southern Illinois looked like tonight.

SuBe and I went into the Shawnee Forest Sunday and took some photos including these at sunset. SuBe will post the other pictures later.
